Hanami (Cherry Blossom Viewing)

Cherry blossoms are now full in bloom in NY.

Even if you can't live in or visit to Japan, you can enjoy Hanami where cherry blossom trees are blooming!

Hanami is essentially a picnic under the cherry tree. In Japan, we put a picnic rug under the cherry tree and have 'Hanami Bento' and drinks.

I made a Hanami Bento in a 'Jubako Box' (7inch x 7 inch). Jubako box is a traditional Japanese lacquered wood bento box. Jubako is most often used during new year's celebrations to store and serve traditional Japanese foods, called osechi. It is also useful for a Hanami Bento Box!

I shared some recipes on this website so please try to make some Japanese foods and place in your own bento box! I also recommend to have amazake drink for Hanami. You can get the recipe of amazake here!
